Cristoph sets the standard for underground house music with the ‘Guffaz’ EP

By the time we were preparing to bid farewell to the summer clubbing season, there was little denying that underground house music had found an unprecedented stance of visibility. Already mustering considerable points for their part in the welcome affair, Defected sub-label DFTD employ newcomer Cristoph to extend his new found dexterity to 2013’s little house label that could. A mixture of jackin’ house music and deeper dance floor ordinance, it takes the British producer just three-tracks to pinpoint some of 21st century house music’s finer hallmarks. Without relying on nostalgic quirks or predictable crowd-pleasing assets, the Guffaz EP reigns as one of the label’s most triumphant wildcards of the year and a striking argument for Cristoph’s impending industrious overhaul.
