Steve Angello kicks off Radio One 'Residency' show with Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman

Swedish house veteran and entrepreneurial figurehead Steve Angello took to the BBC’s prestigious airwaves last night to unveil his first stab at the ‘Residency’ radio show concept. At the unfolding of the year in which fans patiently anticipate the unveiling of his newest album, the festival favorite and Size/X forbearer packed as much gusto as would be expected from the ex-Swedish House Mafia component and his proven track record.

Renowned for his ability to flip from big room fundamentals to upfront house wizard, his first run started with the techier undertones that once dominated his output. Cuts from the likes of Junior Sanchez, Deetron and Prok & Fitch paved the way to a more familiar nod to his festival proofed tendencies, showing that even the stadium fillers can still throw us off guard once in a while. Among the abundance of new and exclusive tracks, impending Max Vangeli offering “Grim” and a world exclusive spin of Tom Staar’s impending Toolroom cut “Rocket” upheld Angello’s reputation for conveying explosive new music at every opportunity.  The spotlight then shone on Swedish breakouts and new-found Size Records favourites Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, whose interview segment was followed by a guest mix rife with exclusive cuts and of-course, impending AN21 collaboration “Rebel.” With the tone set notably high for his first BBC stint, Steve Angello looks set to dominate the newly formed ‘Residency’ series.
