DA’s Sunday Morning Medicine: Volume 68, Techno & Deep House Edition

Sunday Morning Medicine is a feature from Dancing Astronaut dedicated to the mellower side of electronic music. We bring you our favorite therapeutic selections — old and new — in an attempt to alleviate the agonizing effects of a long weekend of partying.

Having spent the last two weeks in Spain, I couldn’t help but curate a special edition of Sunday Morning Medicine dedicated to the deeper side of techno and house. From Culprit to Sudbeat, we’ve got tracks from some of most respected underground labels. Add on selections from Recondite, Tale of Us, and Ten Walls, and you’ve got the makings of a hypnotic dance music morning.

1. Bambook recently put out a stellar EP for Culprit. While the originals were blissful deep house, Finnebassen’s tech-ier take on “Humble Hearts” is engrossing to say the least.

2. Recondite may be a lesser known name in the US, but in Europe, he’s priming techno stadiums for Richie Hawtin and the like. His “Into the Dew” mix of “Stems” is sunday morning techno at its finest.

3. Tale of Us proved their mastery in 2013. Their collaboration with Vaal on “Concor” showcases their venerable production skills.

4. Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat is curating some amazing techno and house at the moment. Nocturna’s “Big Bang” is enveloping from start to finish.

5. Finally, we wrap things up with Ten Walls’ hot deep house tune, “Walking With Elephants.” The song is taking over after hours sets by storm and feels like an appropriate closer to this week’s SMM.
