MTV debuts Tomorrowland documentary, ’10 Years of Unity, Love, Madness and Magic’

From awe-inspiring stage designs to live theatrical characters, massive music festivals have always been a spectacle of people, cultures, and sound. Considered by many as the archetype of dance music events, Tomorrowland received a special spotlight in celebration of its 10th anniversary. MTV, in effort to return to its original musical roots and as the 2014 festival’s broadcast partner, has again tapped into the explosive EDM genre with a 45-minute documentary on the Belgium festival in honor of its tenth anniversary. “Tomorrowland: 10 Years of Unity, Love, Madness, and Magic” pays homage to the prolific festival through interviews with several of Tomorrowland’s returning alumni like David Guetta, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, and Kaskade highlighting the show’s special characteristics. The film, although released only weeks following the most recent Tomorrowland, was filmed in 2013 and includes the unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime memory of Armin van Buuren’s emotional performance immediately following the birth of his son.

An overview of the festival’s history and footage of the festival’s most charming qualities are sprinkled between the introduction of several “real life” fans and their journeys from France, Australia, Dubai, and The United States to Tomorrowland. Reminiscent of the EDC documentary’s follow-along approach, MTV highlights the loving and unifying mentality of several of their main international attendees along with a romantic and perfectly planned proposal between a couple. In a brief and tasteful recap of the festival, MTV offers a nostalgic capsule of Tomorrowland’s best highlights of people, talent, and atmosphere.
