DA Premiere: Flosstradamus deliver ‘Rebound’ Remix EP, announce HDYNATION Hotline
Curt Cameruci and Josh Young have created a movement behind their music. Known together as Flosstradamus, the twin-turbo trap beast that led the charge in integrating hip-hop into dance music, the Chicago-bred DJs have made HDYNATION into its own represented community within the broader scope of dance music. And even though Floss is best known for a kind of hype that can’t be found anywhere else, they offered up a different perspective to their sound earlier this year with “Rebound.” The producers that exploded onto the scene with their untouchable, aggressively grimy trap music offered up a B-side track that is perfect for the come down, and now, Ultra Records has devliered a handful of remixes that pay homage to the HDYBYZ’ after-hours cut. The EP is available to stream on Spotify now, and will be available for purchase on November 11th.
The Rebound Remixes EP offers innovative spins by Daktyl, CRNKN, and Twice As Nice, each marked by their own distinct angles. Daktyl opts for the future-trap approach with strange, moody grooves that come together with sharp drum arrangements and gritty vocal cuts while CRNKN’s rework takes an alternative spin with a deep, UK bass inspired frame. CRNKN’s effort clings to soothing lyrics alongside bouncy, metallic synth work. Twice As Nice offers the wild card of the collection with a convoluted, minimal offering that smoothly rides ambient, dreamy melodies, bringing together an creatively well rounded set of remixes.
Along with the Rebound Remixes EP, Flosstradamus is gearing up to announce another release today too. Bravo, Floss. This one’s pretty good.
