MOOD‘s no nonsense agenda for modern techno has seen Nicole Moudaber’s imprint become a beacon for the next wave of genre stalwarts. For Toronto native Carlo Lio, it played homed to a moment of clarity for the underground don’s studio panache early in the label’s inception. Following up on 2013’s ICON EP, the national treasure uses “Deebug” B-side “No Turning Back” to expand his agenda outside of the genre’s comfort zone. Disjointed, murky and grooving techno with warped undertones compliment the EP’s tribal-orientated precursor, showing that Carlo Lio has all bases covered where his stand on the underground sound scope is concerned here in 2015.
