Gramatik is gearing up to deliver his Epigram EP, leading the charge with the first single from the upcoming release alongside Raekwon and singer/songwriter Orlando Napier. The collaboration is the first piece in a two-part song, telling the story of a kid growing up in New York City. The first part, “Native Son,” features the Wu-Tang rapper reflecting on an earlier time, lyrically hopping from one of life’s unexpected situations to another over Gramtik’s mellow hip-hop inspired beat.

The tune incorporates Gramtik’s crisp drum rhythms over jazzy accentuations while Raekwon delivers thoughtful verses to the three-way effort. Gramatik’s blend of soulful electro and groovy glitch-hop shine through on the track, giving an inside look at what to expect on the rest of Epigram. “Native Son” is the moody precursor to its counterpart, “Native Son Prequel,” opening up Gramatik’s upcoming release with a classy, creative original concept.
