DA Premiere: TRACE7000 – Acid Habits (Original Mix)

Dutch producer TRACE7000 may be a newcomer to the scene, but he’s quickly proven himself a major force to be reckoned with in the electronic music arena. Hailing from a small town outside Eindhoven, the 22-year-old DJ and producer exhibits a deep and diverse knowledge of music that belies his age. Unsurprisingly, Canadian heavyweight Tiga and his own Turbo Recordings quickly took notice. The young talent’s out-of-the-box approach to sound and rhythm place him seamlessly among the label’s roster of artists, and his recent Acid Habits EP is the perfect collection of work with which to make his label debut. As a whole, the EP hits the sweet spot between innovation and tradition; it combines the best elements of a wide range of techno, from floor-filling builds to Chicago Warehouse-era grooves. Label boss Tiga says the EP’s closing track, “Merino,” has been a “big record” for him, providing the “perfect blend of nu-school and old-school techno.”

DA is proud to premiere the EP’s title track, “Acid Habits” which some have described as a throwback to golden-era M_nus. Dark and enticing, it bounces along on a solid beat and slowly incorporates one sound after another. The perfect weapon for a night at Watergate or Space’s Techno Loft, it has texture, strength and soul. The full Acid Habits EP is scheduled for release May 25 via Turbo Recordings.
