Insomniac unveils new startup and A&R contests, official parties, and more for EDMbiz
At the end of 2014, Insomniac announced that its flagship industry conference and expo, EDMbiz, would be returning to Sin City in 2015 for EDM’s most influential executives and artists to come together and discuss the current happenings in the industry. With this year’s list of speakers still held under lock and key, Insomniac surfaces with its first wave of announcements for this year’s conference. EDMbiz 2015 will host the event’s first-ever startup and record/A&R contests.
EDMbiz’s startup contest will present a platform for hopeful entrepreneurs to enter and possibly pitch their business ideas in front of a panel of high-profile venture capitalist and leading EDM personas. Basing their judging decisions around the startup’s ingenuity, disruptive capacity, and market opportunity, the expert panel will choose five teams to give their presentations live at the 2015 conference where one lucky startup will ultimately be selected the winner.
In terms of the A&R contest, EDMbiz, Insomniac Records, and Wavo have partnered up to give one aspiring producer the chance to release their original production on Insomniac’s premier imprint. Insomniac Records launched at the start of 2014 and now boasts a roster consisting of Arty, Arno Cost & Norman Doray, Hook N Sling, and Destructo. After a preliminary round of crowd-sourced voting via Wavo’s music platform, the most voted-upon artists will showcase their track at the conference in front of a committee of judges from the world’s most powerful record labels. The judges will choose the winning original to be released via Insomniac Records.
In addition to the contest announcements, EDMbiz will be taking over Omnia Nightclub on the first night of the conference, June 16th, for its opening party featuring Afrojack, while on the eve of EDC Las Vegas and EDMBiz’s final night, The Cosmopolitan’s Boulevard Pool will serve as the venue for the Closing Night Party with Alesso set to perform. This initial announcement is only the first of many to come from EDMbiz before the commencement of their fourth year, and for those who look to attend, badges are still available to attend the 2015 conference and expo taking place from June 16-18.
