Jack Ü feat. Justin Bieber – Where Are Ü Now (Marshmello Remix)
You may have heard of Marshmello by now, although the person behind the project still remains largely a mystery. Popping up on the scene a few months ago, the enigmatic side project has begun to push a genre-blurring sound without any real press or popularity behind the music, and people are starting to catch on. Marshmello blends jersey club with trap inspired sounds, as bright melodies clash with tightly wound hi-hat rolls across a number of originals and remixes. The producer’s latest comes by way of a new remix to Skrillex, Diplo, and Justin Bieber’s huge crossover hit, “Where Are Ü Now.”
Swapping the mellow, tribal progressions of the original mix for winding flute arrangements and vocal loops, Marshmello gives the collaborative tune a little bump and grind on this remix. Keeping close to the original’s tempo and clinging tightly to Bieber’s buttery versework, Marshmello makes some keen additions to “Where Are Ü Now,” giving the track an energetic, summer-inspired remix.
And without an identity to attribute this new remix to, Marshmello is letting the music do the talking as he (she?) one-ups Jack Ü on their own hit.
