Idris Elba‘s remix of Skepta‘s anthemic “Shutdown” is finally here, and it more than lives up to the hype. The British actor and DJ rumbles gruffly over the fiery instrumental, matching Skepta’s passion and intensity if not his polish. Elba draws on his acting experience throughout the second half of his verse, effortlessly weaving in references to his roles in The Wire, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and Luther. It’s a truly compelling and unexpected remix, and it serves as further proof that Skepta and Idris Elba – both individually and as a team – can do no wrong.
