SNBRN – California feat. Kaleena Zanders (Chris Lake & Matroda Remix)
Vocalist Kaleena Zanders dubbed SNBRN’s “California” the “jam of the summer.” Call her biased if you like (it is her voice on the remake of the classic by 2pac and Dr. Dre), but there’s no denying the tune’s bouncing groove and familiar vocal is a tad bit infectious. Now, English DJ and producer Chris Lake and Croatian artist Matroda have a remix of the remake that ups the intensity and chunks up the synths and basslines for a hotter, heavier club rendition.
Chris Lake said of the track: “As soon as I heard Kaleena’s re-sung vocal of California, I knew I had to make a version that I could play out in my sets. I was speaking with Matroda at the time and we decided to collaborate on it.” The result is a brawny peak-hours banger that barrels its way through gritty synth leads and rolling bass sequences.
