The Radar Episode 036: Mixed by Troy Kurtz

Troy Kurtz is one of the many up-and-comers currently lighting up the LA underground scene, yet what separates this Angeleno from the rest of the pack is the versatility of his record bag. Kurtz is just as likely to spin some grooving disco gems as he is a bit of hypnotic tech house when the time is right. His music’s aesthetic perfectly embodies the city he resides in: soulful, summer-tinged, and yearning for something deeper than the surface.

We recently enlisted the young talent to takeover our Radar series, and Troy delivered with flying colors. His mix spans everything from Todd Terje, to The Chemical Brothers and Dusky, pieced together in seamless fashion over the course of an hour.

“This mix was made on a warm, humid day in July in LA as a freak thunderstorm gave us some much needed rain. It’s reflective of some of the deeper sounds that I’ve been playing this summer, as well some jacking house and techno numbers that have been doing the business.”
