DA Premiere: RÜFÜS – You Were Right (Catz n Dogz Remix)
Australian group RÜFÜS DU SOL — RÜFÜS for short — represent the intersection of live band elements and familiar, dance-friendly electronic tropes. Pairing original vocals with smooth synth work, their creations never fail to enrapture listeners. The Sydney trio’s latest single is “You Were Right,” a catchy indie-dance number with deep house sensibility, and coincidentally, the lead single from their sophomore album. The group’s impending, yet-to-be-named work follows their 2013 debut, Atlas, which peaked at number 1 in Australia.
To further steer their new single towards the electronic realm, RÜFÜS have enlisted Catz n Dogz for an official remix. The Pets Recording founders provide the perfect backdrop for the vocal hook, lending an easy-going drum foundation to the mix and a buzzing bassline to push the track forward. It’s a bit lighter fare than what’s become standard for the Polish producers, but an altogether engrossing rework of “You Were Right” nonetheless.
