It’s been quite some time since Branchez has supplied us with an original production; he’s instead been presenting a steady flow of quality remixes over the past year or so. That dry spell has finally ended with the free release of “Cuenta,” to say it is distinctively Branchez would be an understatement. The cut is a return to the New Yorker’s trap roots, rife with an abundance of diverse samples and just the right amount of rolling snares to enhance without overpowering. Playful in nature and construction, heavy basslines put listeners in the mood to drive slow with the subwoofer turned up and the windows rolled down.
