Kraftwerk and Kevin Saunderson played together at the group’s afterparty in Detroit

Pioneers of techno and electronic music from both sides of the Atlantic came together for a performance last night at Detroit’s Museum of Contemporary Art. The legendary German group Kraftwerk played a sold-out, two-hour twenty-minute 3D show at the Masonic Temple, marking the group’s first return to the Motor City in a decade.

The momentous occasion prompted the show at the after-party with Detroit-based Kevin Saunderson, who had attended the show earlier. Other greats like Juan Atkins and Derrick May also performed at the four-hour after-party. Those of us who weren’t luckily enough to witness the historical union can only hope that there will be audio to come in the future.
