Pete Tong announces first-ever Essential Mix Live event in US

Electronic music’s most influential radio host, Pete Tong, has announced the launch of his world-renowned Essential Mix brand in the US early next year with a series of live events. The first ever US Essential Mix Live event will take place in Los Angeles at Exchange LA on January 22, with techno icon Richie Hawtin.

Pete Tong moved to Los Angeles from the UK several years ago, and has chosen his newly-adopted hometown to launch the US Essential Mix Live series because of its significance in the global electronic music scene. “The Essential Mix has always been about championing what’s new and next,” says Tong. “So much has happened to electronic music in America in the last five years, and much of that change has been born out of LA, and the community of artists and industry professionals that live here. We’re incredibly lucky to kick start this American series with Richie, who has been such an influential artist in the story of American techno music.”

Tong has hosted the Essential Mix for 20 years, helping transform it into the most reputable mix show in the world. Appearing on the show and delivering a two-hour Essential Mix has become a rite-of-passage for aspiring electronic musicians.

Richie Hawtin has had an equally storied career, shaping electronic music in North America and beyond. The techno pioneer has hosted his iconic ENTER. live series around the world since launching it in Ibiza in 2012, not to mention continuing to promote cutting-edge talent on his labels Plus 8 and M_nus.

Bringing the two legendary figures together behind the decks, the inaugural Essential Mix Live in the US show will not be an event to miss.

Tickets are available here.
