Malaa unveils ‘Fade,’ his second release on Tchami’s Confession label

The enigmatic Malaa is unquestionably the biggest star on Tchami‘s Confession label aside from the French figurehead himself. The balaclava-bearing behemoth’s newest track, “Fade,” makes him the first artist to achieve a second release on the imprint. Revolving around vocal samples from Kool G. Rap and Nas’ “Fast Life” before erupting into surreptitiously simplistic bass lines, “Fade” is the quintessence of Malaa’s music.

Whether intentional or not, the vocal samples Malaa chooses seem self-referential to his persona. Where “Notorious” played with the notoriety surrounding the producer, “Fade” seems to jab at the notion that many believe to have figured out the producer’s identity, with the predominant vocal sample repeating “Everywhere we go, people know who we are.” Stream the track below, and purchase here.
