Nicky Romero paired with guitar legend Nile Rodgers for part 2 of his Lighthouse trilogy, a music video series that follows the life of its protagonist “Jon.” The pair had been hanging out in a studio for a jam session when an experimental riff from Rodgers immediately caught Romero’s attention and catalyzed “Future Funk.”

The track centralizes on guitar elements, allowing Rodger’s classically-flavored grooves to guide us through Jon’s life as a corrupt stock trader in the 1990s. Surprisingly devoid of typical big room sounds, “Future Funk” is refreshingly atypical of Romero and proves his talents go beyond the main stage.
