Paul Van Dyk falls from stage during ASOT Utrecht
Trance legend Paul Van Dyk was in the middle of his set when suddenly during his song “Lights,” the sound cut off. A few minutes passed by with no news, until witness accounts started pouring in on Twitter revealing his set ceased because he had fallen from the stage.
So far discussions on Twitter report a head injury, and that a helicopter ambulance had been rushed to the venue to airlift the DJ to a nearby hospital. As 5am neared, a grave-faced ASOT leader Armin Van Buuren took the stage to announce Van Dyk’s transport to the hospital, and that the mainstage, including his vinyl set, would be shut down for the remainder of the night. The rest of the event will carry on as planned.
Support from other DJs has already begun pouring in, with Gareth Emery posting “The world of trance needs you.” Our prayers go out for his recovery.
Tonight Paul van Dyk fell off the stage. He’s on his way to the hospital. He’s one of the heroes of A State of Trance…
