Star Wars electronic album announced featuring Flying Lotus, Kaskade, Claude VonStroke and more

Beats 1 radio recently revealed exciting news for Star Wars and electronic music fans. In a brief discussion with Flying Lotus, following the premiere of his new production “R2 Where R U?,” Zane Lowe announced that the clip would be part of an entire album dedicated to Star Wars titled Star Wars Headspace. Flying Lotus’s participation in the project marks the second time this year he’s done film-related music after scoring a short film at Sundance.

Led by Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin, artists participating in the project are allowed full control over the series’ entire catalog of sound effects. Elaborating further, Fly Lo stated, “The way it worked, we got a big old sound archive, and they said, just don’t sample any John Williams music, but do whatever you want with the sounds.”

Others listed on the Star Wars Headspace roster include The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams, Baauer, GTA, Kaskade, Bonobo, Claude VonStroke, Galantis and more. The album will be released in digital format on February 19 and in physical format on March 19 through Hollywood Records.
