DA Premiere: Cuartero returns to Hot Creations with ‘It Stops’
Fast-rising Spanish producer Cuartero is back at it making big waves at Hot Creations, following up last year’s smash Dioneli EP on the label with a brand new muscle-flexing three-track EP entitled Disarm. Although Cuartero was deemed ‘Best Newcomer’ at last year’s DJ Awards, his new EP follows a bevy of strong releases from the Spaniard, with productions on Desolat, VIVa MUSiC and Saved all doing damage on the world’s biggest stages.
Cuartero describes the EP’s last track, “It Stops,” as “A completely different style of track that adds old radio broadcasting snippets over Detroit stabs.” The thick groove comes out swinging before the quirky sample “It Stops” chirps over slick-riding hi-hats and fat kicks. Contrary to the title of the track, it’s a groove that never really stops, with classic Detroit drums blasting away over a clanking bassline for a cheeky heater proving Cuartero’s latest Disarm EP has the strength to play all the way through.
