deadmau5 creating new version of Strobe for 100th release on mau5trap

In 2007, deadmau5 officially launched his own label, mau5trap, serving as a platform for his potent curation. Over the years, the imprint has hosted everyone from Tommy Trash to Noisia — not to mention playing a crucial role in breaking artists like Skrillex and Feed Me into the mainstream. More recently, the label has turned its attention to showcasing exciting young talent like REZZ and Attlas.

For the 100th release on mau5trap, deadmau5 is preparing something truly special. While his flourishing imprint has primarily provided an outlet for the music of his talented friends — not his own — it looks as though he may be contributing some material to the forthcoming anniversary release. Zimmerman uploaded a short clip to Instagram of what appears to be a rework or remix of his most celebrated hit to date, “Strobe.” Though he doesn’t outright mention the seminal tune, the melody is unmistakable. Listen below to his work in progress.
