Listen to Diplo’s throwback hip-hop mix
The latest episode of Diplo and Friends is a two hour beast from the big man himself. Keen listeners will recognize the tracklist as an old hip-hop special from 2014, but this expansive mix warrants a fresh listen.
The show was run as a tie in to BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Old Skool Weekend which coincided with Nike’s Air Max Day 2016. Diplo addressed the throwback in the show’s introduction noting: “As a DJ and producer, this is my roots. Hip-hop culture is where I came from.”
Highlights of the show include classic tracks from Public Enemy, Nas, and a healthy dose of J Dilla alongside recent cuts from Mr Carmack, Tyler, the Creator, and iLoveMakonnen.
