Live Nation is poised to take over Governor’s Ball

Live Nation is reportedly in the final stages of closing a deal with Founders Entertainment, the independent firm behind NYC music festival Governor’s Ball. This deal come on the heels of the announcement of Panorama Festival, the “East Coast Coachella,” which was initially set to take place two weeks after Governor’s Ball at the same venue.

Panorama’s organizers have stepped on a number of toes in planning their festival, and their decision to host their event so shortly after Governor’s Ball even drew an official condemnation from the incumbent festival. Founders Entertainment has independently produced Governor’s Ball for it’s entire six-year history, but the growing competition from Panorama appears to have pushed them to accept a corporate partnership. Live Nation is likely motivated by competition as well, as Panorama is being produced by their longtime rivals, AEG Live.

Governor’s Ball will take place June 3-5, with Panorama now occurring July 22-24, both on Randall’s Island in New York City.
