University of Miami student passes away after attending Ultra Music Festival

As Ultra Music Festival concludes, news has surfaced that a University of Miami student passed away while in attendance. The student, Adam Levine, was a 21-year-old political science major at UM, who spent Friday in downtown Miami for the opening day of the festival.

While details surrounding the exact cause of death are still scarce (Levine’s family has commented that he passed away due to a seizure), Ray Martinez, the Chief of Security for Ultra, confirmed the following in an email on late Sunday:

“While we don’t have many details, we know that our security personnel noticed that Adam was having difficulties and immediately called Miami Fire paramedics so medical assistance could occur. From what we have been told, paramedics initiated medical treatment and transported Adam to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Most unfortunately, Adam passed away at the hospital.”

This news follows that of the alleged rape of a woman who was in attendance at Ultra, and adds to the festival industry’s tragically high number of fatalities. Our thoughts are with Adam Levine’s family and friends.
