Peek into the colorful world of 1990's clubbing
The 1990s are a time of legend in the history of clubbing. In this analog era, before the rise of digital cameras, there existed Tilman Brembs, a German photographer and clubber who was so integral to the scene that he had no issue getting into clubs, point and shoot camera in tow, and snapping away right in the heart of the action.
As the photographer for techno magazine Frontpage, Brembs traveled to clubs in Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Tokyo, Las Vegas, and Hong Kong, building up an archive of nearly 20,000 film photos. While they had previously gone unpublished, Brembs ultimately decided that the time was right to share them as part of his Zeitmaschine project, which he describes as a “chronicle of this time, showcasing people bringing this time to life, exhibiting the fashion, the lifestyle and the artists.”
