Beck plunges into trap-inspired sounds with ‘Wow’

Dance music’s influence has reached virtually all corners of the music world. A consistently forward-thinking Beck now joins in on adapting the music into his own with “Wow.”

Beck does a formidable job in building a dreamy trap soundscape without losing his identity in the process. While punchier basslines and OG Maco’s verses add edge to the clip, the “Loser” composer’s airy voice set in a background fueled by celestial rings make “Wow” undeniably Beck in nature. His independent immersion into electronic music follows up two prior forays into it by the singer, where he worked with Chemical Brothers for “Wide Open” and later lent his talents to the ethereal Flume clip, “Tiny Cities.”
