Diplo delivers two hours of hip hop in latest Diplo and Friends mix

Perhaps Diplo‘s greatest trait is his ability to merge his diverse range of influences into mixes and productions that appeal to a wide variety of audience demographics. Though his legacy lies primarily in his contributions to the dance music world, it’s well known that the Florida-bred DJ considers rap and hip hop as his roots. Diplo’s highly popular “Diplo and Friends” radio show, which airs Sundays on BBC Radio 1Xtra, is perhaps known for showcasing up-and-coming artists from a variety of backgrounds, by allowing them to proffer guest mixes for the show.

In honor of Radio 1 Xtra’s ongoing “MC Month,” Diplo has opted to break away from electronic music to celebrate the genre that spurred his career’s foundation. Over the 2-hour mix, Diplo travels through time and regions to meld a comprehensive compilation of pivotal hip hop hits, both old and new.
