Flume previews unreleased track at Splendour In The Grass

Australia’s festival circuit has seen its ups and downs in 2016, but Splendour In the Grass is undoubtedly going down as one of this year’s highlights down under. Flume held down a headlining slot this year next to The Strokes, James Blake, and The Cure, giving Splendour attendees their money’s worth from the main stage. Taking the opportunity to test out new material before a hometown crowd, Flume opened his set with an unreleased track that he’s had under wraps since before he released Skin earlier this year.

The track, still nameless, first appeared in the Skin mini-mix preview that preceded the full record’s release by nearly six months, and now it has surfaced again, this time before an eager crowd. The unidentified track features Flume’s signature off-kilter drum programming and vibrant future bass synth layers. Pitched up vocal chops from “Insane” find their way into the buzzing new melody, with glimmering accents carrying the new arrangement throughout.

An impending deluxe version of Skin may include this new, nameless composition, or perhaps it is part of a new body of work still up Flume’s sleeve. For now, let the live rip from Splendour pique your curiosity.
