Empire of the Sun announce new album ‘Two Vines’

After teasing details all summer, Empire of the Sun have finally announced a new album Two Vines, to arrive October 28 via Astralwerks. The LP will be a follow up to 2013’s stellar sophomore effort Ice on the Dune. Recorded in both Hawaii and Los Angeles, the album features production from Peter Mayes, guest efforts from Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham, and former Prince and David Bowie band members.

“Going to Hawaii to record was the best idea,” says band member Luke Steele. “That was the catalyst for me. I’d spend the morning surfing, then roll in and make music into the night.”

The album’s lead single “High and Low” will premiere in AAA radio ads beginning August 29. The tracklist also includes a remix of 2008’s “Walking On A Dream,” which finally cracked the number 1 slot on Billboard Dance charts earlier this year after it was featured in a Honda Civic ad.

“There was an image we talked about very early on with this record, before we wrote the title track, ‘Two Vines,’ and that was this image of a modern city overtaken by jungle, almost like mother nature taking back the planet,” said band member Nick Littlemore. “All the buildings will turn back to sand. All it will be is nature again. We wanted to make something that reflected the beauty of that, and the wisdom that plants can give us about living harmoniously on this beautiful planet.”
