Security guards reportedly extorted attendees at Moonrise Festival

Wrapping up two days of music on Sunday, Baltimore’s Moonrise Festival already had one problem hanging over its head after more than 20 people were hospitalized following the first day of the festival on August 6th. But now, according to Magnetic Mag, who broke the news, it seems that on top of medical emergencies, security guards at Moonrise reportedly extorted festival goers for money and drugs.

Numerous reports have surfaced on the Moonrise Facebook page, and they all mostly detail the same story. Security personnel would approach attendees, accuse them of drug use or another infraction, and then demand the attendees give them ally he money or drugs they had one them, or risk having their wristband cut and be expelled from the festival grounds. While Moonrise Festival has yet to give an official response to these allegations, it goes without saying that, if true, this behavior is entirely unacceptable and antithetical to the core values of festival culture. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as they are made available.
