Skrillex is undoubtedly one of the most chameleonic music producers in the world. He can manipulate his style around anyone from Bruno Mars to M.I.A. without missing a beat. Earlier this month, it was a Rick Ross feature, dropping the biggest trap track of the year, and now only a few short weeks later, Skrillex turns up again on Mr. Oizo’s latest offering, “End of the World,” the lead single from Oizo’s upcoming All Wet LP.
The track, premiered earlier via BBC Radio 1, finds OWSLA’s head honcho complementing Ed Banger’s mad scientist on a knocking French house selection. The track is carried by a chugging bassline accented with wobbling stabs that roll beneath disco-primed piano chords. The hunker-down-low, garage-inspired appeal comes as a surprisingly restrained, albeit infectiously funky piece of collaborative work between two of dance music’s most forward-thinking experimenters.
