Tresor founder is considering Packard Plant as his Detroit techno club

Dimitri Hegemann, founder of Berlin’s famed techno nightclub Tresor, has set his sights on Detroit’s Packard Plant as his first foray into American soil. With the hopes of transforming the Fischer Body Plant No. 21 into a brand new techno club, Hegemann has since shifted his focus to the new venue, which was purchased in 2013 by Fernando Palazuelo, owner of real estate development firm Arte Express.

Redevelopment of the Packard Plant will be an estimated 10-15-year effort, and take place in four phases. Phases one and two will be dedicated to modern office spaces and a recreational complex, while phases three and four will focus on entertainment and attractions such as a hostel, artist work space, a spa and Hegemann’s forthcoming, unnamed club.

The nightlife impresario is also trying to obtain a special permit that would permit the club to service alcohol past Michigan’s 2am last call law.
