77 arrested in drug crackdown at Sydney’s Defqon.1 festival

77 people have been arrested following Sydney’s Defqon.1 music festival this weekend. The crackdown and a noticeably increased police presence were in response to the death of a 26-year-old attendee at last year’s festivities.

Police and canine units monitored the crowd for drug and alcohol offenses as well as “anti social behavior” and public safety risks. Despite the increased presence, more than 200 people received medical treatment on site though only six were taken to a nearby hospital.

The festival continued in good spirits at Sydney’s International Rowing Centre with wide range of hardcore and bass music headliners and more than 25,000 in attendance.
