Die Antwoord are not breaking up

Die Antwoord fans, rejoice. Reports of the South African rap group’s “breakup” have apparently been taken out of context and largely exaggerated according to emcee Yolandi Visser. The story first appeared yesterday when Exclaim! published an interview with Die Antwoord’s Ninja that clearly suggested the group would dissolve following the release of their fifth album next fall. According to Visser’s Instagram post titled “Die Antwoord is not breaking up”, that’s simply not the case.

In the statement, Visser says Exclaim! journalist Daryl Keating “twisted” Ninja’s quotes and took them out of context. She confirmed the group was not breaking up, but confirmed they would release their fifth and final album next year. Whether the duo will continue to tour or record together in a different iteration remains to be seen.

Visser also confirmed that the duo would be working on a feature film. For now, the duo are geared up for the September 16 release of their fourth studio album Mount Ninja and Da Nice Time Kid.
