Listen to Skrillex’s entire Burning Man set

This year, Camp Questionmark held their “biggest year at Burning Man yet,” hosting sets by Diplo, GRiZ, Mr. Carmack and many more high profile artists. Undoubtedly the largest name on their roster, however, was Skrillex, who filled the camp’s “headlining” slot on Wednesday.

Like many other well known DJs who performed at Black Rock City this year, Skrillex’s presence garnered some criticism from many Burning Man purists, who have argued against the inclusion of mainstream artists. Indeed, the opposition to sets from high profile DJs came to a head this year with the much-publicized vandalism of White Ocean camp, which arose because many burners feel that such camps and performances risk shifting the gathering toward a capitalist model and foment classism within the Playa.

It is important to note, however, that despite this criticism, Skrillex has been an ardent supporter of Burning Man over the past several years; the producer has performed at the last three gatherings and held a massive fundraiser for the Space Whale art project in May. Regardless of Skrillex’s reception at this year’s Burning Man, he left all his cards on the table by putting forth an electrifying set. The recording below begins at the end of The Glitch Mob’s performance before transitioning into Skrillex’s hour-long show filled with set staples, dubstep classics, new bass music, and rap and rock favorites.
