Deadmau5 is currently in the midst of his world tour with Ultra — a multi-stop venture that sees the Canadian legend performing at all of Ultra’s various international festivals. After his appearance at Ultra Singapore last week, Joel Zimmerman’s next stop on the tour was Ultra Japan, which he headlined on Friday night.

While many of his recent performances have taken a similar set arc, Zimmerman crafted something special for his Japan appearance, creating a host of new edits. Though he can usually be found performing exclusively his own music, his set from Ultra Japan brought along enticing techno tracks from the likes of Maceo Plex, Jay Lumen, and more, mixed with familiar samples from his own catalogue.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen deadmau5 drop the techno hammer. Back in March, during his performance from the A State of Trance tent at Ultra, Zimmerman opted for a particularly techno-heavy set, and the results were just as satisfying.
