Destructo celebrates the West Coast hip-hop sound in new Orbit playlist

HARD boss Gary Richards has long been an avid trailblazer in g-house space under his Destructo moniker. A savant at overlaying slick lyrical flows over searing house basslines, the Los Angeles-based jack of many trades has previously convinced rap all-stars like Pusha T, Ty Dolla $ign, YG, ILoveMakonnen, and more to take a stab at dance music.

Richards has been a resident of Los Angeles since the late ’80s and, with an extensive knowledge of the city’s musical evolution, he has decided to give listeners a lesson in West Coast hip-hop to honor of his upcoming show with E-40 and Vindata. Enlisting classics like 2Pac’s “Hail Mary” and Dr. Dre’s “Forget About Dre” alongside Eminem and new favorites like Ty Dolla $ign and Migos’ “??? (Where),” Destructo takes listeners through the past and present of the LA’s venerated hip-hop culture and the prolific West Coast rap sound.

Tickets for Destructo’s show at Avalon’s CONTROL with E-40 and Vindata tonight are still available here.
