Lee Foss announces debut solo LP, ‘Alchemy’

Deep house virtuoso Lee Foss has been around the electronic music scene for quite a while. In the early 2000s, an encounter with Jamie Jones in Ibiza first laid the groundwork for a career that has led Foss to become one of the most well-respected names in the underground scene. Creating an impressive résumé for himself, Foss has coupled his successful solo career with several celebrated side projects, including his Jamie Jones-partnered imprints Emerald City and Hot Creations and collaborative projects with MK, Jamie Jones, and singer Anabel Englund.

For the first time in his illustrious career, Lee Foss is releasing a full-length solo album, titled Alchemy. In describing the album, Lee said, “I titled the album Alchemy because I’ve long been fascinated by the scientific and spiritual dichotomy it represented, sort of as the crossroads of modern science and ancient spirituality and its ethos of distilling perfection in the physical and spiritual realm. It’s dismissed as pseudoscience now but most of modern chemistry and the scientific method stems from it, and I’m interested in a world that better combines the spiritual realm with the scientific and western medicine we worship today. I feel like making music is the modern alchemy as we search for that perfect series of tones to reach our magnum opus.”

In production for over a year now, the artist’s first LP will feature Anabel Englund, Infinity Inc, and other guest appearances. Foss’ signature eclectic sound will be at the forefront of Alchemy as the tracks will heavily incorporate the use of analog synths, vintage drum machines, and the occasional guitar and live bass.

Providing a peek into what’s to come, Foss has released the album’s lead single, titled “Deep Congo.” The track is an example of Foss’ genre blending at its best as it seamlessly combines a groovy bassline with retro synth work and a glitchy, techno-inspired beat.

Alchemy is set to drop in February 2017 and will include a supporting tour. Stream “Deep Congo” and view upcoming tour dates below.
