Crankdat takes on a Skrillex classic for his latest remix offering [Free Download]

Keep a close eye on Crankdat. He’s got the attention of industry heavyweights across the bass music spectrum, and his uncanny knack for producing blistering remixes has landed his work in DJ sets across the world. The Ohio-based beatmaker is back with a new rendition of a vintage Skrillex piece, taking on the classic “Weekends” with Sirah, and updating the tune for 2016 with a boisterous bass house treatment.

Stepping up to remix “Weekends” isn’t Crankdat’s first foray into Sonny’s catalog either. Crankdat took on Skrillex and Wiwek‘s “Killa” earlier this year, and now he’s following up on that remix with another equally aggressive rework of “Weekends.” Swapping out the original’s house tempo for a more trap-leaning pulse, Crankdat ups the ante on an early Skrillex landmark with driving synths and pitched down vocal chops, offering his new rework as a free download.

Skrillex struck the intersection of bass music and house with his seminal 2010 debut, My Name Is Skrillex. Now, six years later, a huge wave of producers inspired by Skrillex have come out of the woodwork, and Crankdat continues to shine at the top of that list.
