Watch the video for Marshmello’s new single ‘Ritual’ featuring Skrillex and a fake deadmau5
Marshmello’s ascension to stardom in the dance world has happened seemingly overnight. Fueled by accessible musical offerings and unmistakable branding, his image — for better or worse — has become a central poster child for the EDM generation.
Marshmello’s career culminates today with a new single on Skrillex’s OWSLA imprint titled “Ritual” — easily his biggest release to date. The track features vocals from Wrabel, offering a soulful crossover spin on his friendly, candy-coated sound. As opposed to previous efforts, the track appears more precisely aimed at crossover markets, as evidenced by its truncated arrangement which jumps between sections with a pop-like efficiency.
The song arrives with an official video which features the likes of Skrillex, Valentino Khan, Slushii, and other OWSLA friends. The ending further features an imposter deadmau5 with a three-eared mau5head — an obvious jab at Joel Zimmerman who we can assure you wants no part in this.

Update: deadmau5 has responded to the fake deadmau5 cameo in the video:
difference is, I’ve never felt i should parody a bucket in my video to cover up whatever insecurity I have with sub-par trap production.

You’d figure someone “on that level” as it were, would be less reliant on someone else for the highlight reel. Guess not.
