One of Europe’s largest festivals, T in the Park, cancelled for 2017

Scotland’s beloved festival T In The Park has been forced to cancel its 2017 edition. According to organizers, site complications stemming from the event’s forced venue change two years ago eventually culminated in them having to take a break. Due to a legally-protected Osprey’s nest, which cost the venue extra money in applying for a full-planning permit and in hiring extra staff in attempts to ameliorate traffic issues caused by its location, conditions under which to organize a festival were deemed unworkable.

“As the build up to the festival was well underway we were informed by Scottish Government Ministers that we would have to apply for full Planning Permission due to the presence of an unregistered, but protected in law, osprey’s nest,” T in the Park wrote on their website. “The constraints – logistically and financially – that the resulting planning conditions put upon us are simply not workable.”

Thankfully, T In The Park is labeling the gap year as just a break, reassuring fans that their two-plus decade run as a cornerstone festival is nowhere near its end. They will be taking their free time to sort out obstacles currently facing them in order to provide their guests and longtime fans “the kind of camping festival [they] are used to and deserve.”
