The xx share mysterious new piece of music

Following a two-year-long hiatus, London band The xx are going on tour later this month, with a slew of stops in Europe, Asia, and South America. In preparation for their first live performances since 2014, the trio shared a playlist of tunes they had been listening to in the studio. The compilation of tracks range from eclectic electronic from Floating Points and Four Tet, to classic rock from The Cure and The Velvet Underground.

Titled “The xx: in the studio,” this playlist is updated frequently and can be listened to on several streaming platforms. Recently, a new track has appeared on the Spotify version, though no artist or song title has been provided. The cinematic 55-second song drifts through a haze of dreamy minimalism, for an enigmatic track that purportedly matches their aesthetic.  The band has not commented on the track, but speculation remains high that does indeed belong to The xx.
