The Chainsmokers beat out Swedish House Mafia for new record on Billboard charts

2016 has indubitably been a successful year for chart-topping duo The Chainsmokers. While “Closer” has been knocked out of the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 after 12 weeks, it remains at #3 on the chart; meanwhile, the group has achieved a new record atop the Dance Mix/Show Airplay.

“Closer” has held the #1 spot for 17 weeks on the chart, nabbing the record from its previous owner, Swedish House Mafia, for “Don’t You Worry Child” which topped the chart for 16 weeks. Before that, Lady Gaga held the title for “Poker Face” at 15 weeks.

“Closer” has dominated the Dance/Electronic Charts for 17 weeks, but is still ten weeks away from breaking the record set by Avicii for ‘Wake Me Up,’ which stayed at #1 for 26 weeks.
