The DA Hot 25: December 16, 2016

The DA Hot 25 is the definitive playlist series running through dance music culture and hand-delivering you with the essential tracks of the week. Whether it’s the hottest or quickest trending tracks, brand new music from your favorite artists, or songs from the unknown that should be landing on your radar, Dancing Astronaut brings you 25 carefully selected records that reflect what’s happening in our world.

This week’s playlist features end of the year releases from Flume, Kaskade, and Galantis. We’ve also highlighted a few reimagined classics from filous. and Autograf, as well as innovative flips from Just A Gent, Big Wild, and Zedd. Additionally, we’ve provided our picks from within The DA Hot 25, highlighting two standout tracks.

The Heat of the Week: Flume – My Boo (feat. Vince Staples, Kučka, Ngaiire, & Vera Blue)

Earlier this month, Flume stepped into Triple J to perform his hit single “Never Be Like You” with Kai, and he also reimagined Ghostown DJ’s classic “My Boo” with the help of Vince Staples, Kučka, Ngaiire, & Vera Blue. Stripping away the original production and replacing it with wonky elements similar to the vibe of his sophomore LP, Harley Streten and his musical associates play their various roles to perfection to provide a modern rendition of the “Running Man” song.

The Breakout Select: Gallant – Talking to Myself (Big Wild Remix)

Percussion maestro Big Wild had a monumental 2016 with two releases on Odesza’s Foreign Family Collective imprint and his first headline tour. To cap off the year, he’s flipped Gallant’s “Talking to Myself” into a funk-ridden, electronic gem.
