Flume and Kai’s ‘Never Be Like You’ has gone double platinum
Flume officially broke out of dance popularity and into mainstream stardom behind the release of his sophomore album Skin earlier this year. The album boasted Flume’s masterful method of experimentation and showedcased major strides of development from his self-titled debut in 2012. Skin is a contender for electronic record of the year, and its pop appeal has been largely due to the overwhelming success of the LP’s standout single, “Never Be Like You.” The track earned the Aussie beatmaker his first-ever platinum certification, and now he’s doubled down, with the Kai-assisted hit going double platinum in the U.S..
“Never Be Like You” roped in a number of high profile remixes too, with Martin Solveig, Disclosure, and Wave Racer all offering their takes on one of the year’s biggest tunes.
Flume has incontestably had the biggest year of his career in 2016. Between Skin, a newly-released companion EP, a world tour, and now two platinum plaques to boot, its hard to make the case that any electronic artist is riding a higher wave than Flume at the moment.
