Listen to Skrillex’s Burning Man set from Robot Heart

Anyone who’s been to Burning Man over the last decade is well aware of the legendary art car Robot Heart, and its famed Funktion-One sound system. Over the last few years, the car has hosted sets by the likes of Above & Beyond, who played a sunrise yoga set in 2014, Bob Moses, Jamie Jones, Lee Burridge, Tale of Us, and Thievery Corporation, to name but a few.

This year once again saw plenty of top tier talent grace the the car, including Major Lazer and Skrillex. The latter star, Sonny Moore, set the mood for a “Sunset Art Tour” set on Wednesday evening, as the Robot Heart art car perused the Playa, taking a tour of the art installations that seemingly grow out of the desert floor. Far removed from his usual DJ sets, Sonny lets the sunset vibes flow with deep, ethereal house that gives way to more classic house and tech house that fits right in with much of the music heard out on the Playa.

This was a really special set because we had all of our friends with us. I brought a lot of first time burners out to the Playa this year. The whole Robot Heart crew took care of us all, and we got to see a lot of the art while I played. This year I collaborated with the team behind Embrace on the Space Whale project.

Hope you enjoy the mix, I mess up a few times but it doesn’t really matter because the vibe was so awesome and so real.

I want to thank Robot Heart and everyone at Burning Man. I especially want to thank all of the artists who put a whole year of work and funding into creating all of the magical art we get to enjoy on what’s probably the coolest canvas in the whole world aka the Playa.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a great new year.

-Skrillex
