Icon Spotlight: December

Icon Collective has solidified its reputation as the premier educational facility for electronic music production on the West Coast. The North Hollywood arts school has become a breeding ground for the next generation of talent, as evidenced by its formidable track record, which includes the likes of Jauz, MAKJ, Slander, SNBRN and more.

To spotlight some of the amazing talent coming out of the school, we’ve teamed up with Icon for a new series highlighting tracks from the past month from both current students and Icon graduates.

Icon wrapped up 2016 with a slew of releases from some of their most ambitious graduates and current students. Icon family favorites Castor Troy and Boy Bishop united for an aggressive spin on Bok Nero’s Dim Mak single “No Problem,” while Supertask debuted his serene original “Translation.” Icon grads and bass music aficionados WENZDAY and Dack Janiels linked up for a heavy dubstep take on Rain Man & Krysta Young’s “Habit,” while one of Icon’s many resident drum ‘n’ bass heads, Consouls, collaborated with Des McMahon on new original “The Game” featuring MC ID. Lastly, King Chain’s collaboration with venerated LA-based collective Far East Movement, “Don’t Speak,” received a special VIP, extending its shelf life on the dancefloor.
