Sonny Moore’s flirtations with different genres are as successful as they are varied. Recently, Moore has returned to his early roots by temporarily returning as the vocalist for his old band, From First To Last. Despite his recent release and performance with the band, Skrillex has by no means halted his output as a producer. As his dedicated followers are well aware, the OWSLA-head has, at all times, a plethora of unreleased tracks on hand.
The most recent Skrillex ID to surface raises the tempo from the producer’s normal fare. Yesterday, February 13, British producer Dimension posted a video of himself playing an unreleased Skrillex edit of his own DnB track, “UK,” released in November 2016. The brief clip reveals Skrillex’s spin on the track to retain a number of the original production’s features, only slimly changing Dimension’s percussive elements and keeping the recurrent vocal sample in play. Where Moore makes his mark is in the introduction of his signature caustic bass synths, which add a riveting, frenetic element to “UK.”
